Ferro and Tolomei - Joe Abecrombie's Last Argument of Kings

Ferro and Tolomei, illustration I made for Joe Abercrombie's Last Argument of Kings, illustrated spansh version. The project includes Cover, Jacket and 6 interior illustrations.

This illustration is about the moment Ferro runs away from the House of the maker with the seed, while she’s been attacked by Tolomei. The scene shows several “actions” and elements, that was very difficult to put together and make it understandable. It’s maybe the most action scene in the whole book.
One one hand, we have Ferro running with the seed and Tolomei attacking her (first action). As the specter she is, everything around Tolomei is turning extremely cold, which I represent with a change in colors, ice crystals...etc (second action). Meanwhile, in the background, Bayaz is using the divider to cut Tolomei’s arm (third action) while behind him the structure that was hanging from the roof is now a metal disaster after the fight with Yulwei (fourth action). And all these actions are inside the House of the Maker, a very singular place that I imagine in a mix between organic and brutalistic. The time and space inside look tricky, special and unique, creating a sensation of dizziness. I rotated the POV a bit and created different structures in the background to guide the action, as some structure that is almost moving, but also allowing me to have different areas to show all the action. This kind of scenario always affect the movement of the “actors”, as it happens in German expressionism movies (Murnau) which, byt the way, are also very related with monsters and spectres.
